Third coinage
Whilst the other pages record all known coins of the earlier coinage, this page gives examples of the mint marks and types of the remaining coinage of the reign, being Thistle, Lis and Trefoil.
For this period, all obverses have colons in the legend, but the abbreviations vary, such that Britain, France and Ireland , can become, BRIT or BRI , FRAN,FRA or FR, and HIB or HI.
The reverses all have the bird headed harp, and no colons in the legend. Unlike the third coinage mm Rose, these three mint marks, all have either the usual shield s2666 or a plume over shield s2667.
On both obverse and reverse, pellets sometimes appear before or on both sides on the mint mark.
